Bad Boss Story: Teen Cafe Takeover

Bad Boss Story: Teen Cafe Takeover
Source: Street interview

"I was 16, my boss went to Egypt and left me in charge of the shop. I ran a cafe with another 16 year old girl, two of us for a month straight.

We woke up at 5am and closed at 7 o'clock. Every day.

I quit after we finished and the cafe shut."

👀 Our Take:

Throwing teenagers into full-time management without training or support isn’t “character building” — it’s negligence. No proper rostering, no breaks, no relief. It’s a crash course in burnout.

🧠 Could this have been avoided?

Absolutely. With responsible staffing, adult supervision, and fair shifts, this never would’ve happened.

That’s why we built the Work Personality snapshot helps leaders see how they react under stress — a 60-second quiz to help leaders understand strengths, limits, and blind spots in team management.
